Languages, users and roles, API keys, webhooks
Settings โ overview
Open Settings (at the bottom of the sidebar). Everyone can view settings, but only the Administrator and Owner roles can change them. Others see the notice You can view settings but not change them. Tabs | Tab | What's there | |---|---| | General | Company name, currency (EUR, USD, GBP), time zone | | Languages | Enabled content languages and the main language โ see Content languages | | Units of measure | Which units to use for dimensions and weight | | Translation | Standard and premium engine, automatic translation โ see Automatic translation | | Taxonomy | Linking categories to standard classifications (GPC โ Google) | | API keys | Keys for connecting other systems โ see API keys | | Webhooks | Notifications to your system about changes in PIM โ see Webhooks | | Users | Your team and roles โ see Users and roles | The API keys and Users tabs are visible to the Owner only.
Users and roles
Open Settings โ Users (the Team tab). Only the Owner sees this tab. Roles | Role | What they can do | |---|---| | Owner | Everything, including managing users and API keys | | Administrator | Edit products, publish to stores and change settings | | Editor | Edit products, translate, approve suggestions; view stores and settings only | | Viewer | View only | Give each person the smallest role they need for their work. Adding a user 1. Click Add user. 2. Enter the name and email and choose a role. 3. You can set a password yourself or leave it empty โ the person then gets an email with a link to set their password. 4. Save. If the person already has an EcomCart PIM account (in another company, say), their email is enough. Changing a role In the user list pick the new role from the dropdown. Removing a user Click Remove from company. The person can no longer access your company's data (their access to other companies stays). Restrictions - The last owner can't be removed or demoted โ give someone else the owner role first. - You can't remove yourself.
API keys
Open Settings โ API keys. Only the Owner sees this tab. Two kinds of keys - PIM API (incoming) โ the key your system (ERP, store, script) uses to connect to the PIM API. - External service key (outgoing) โ the key PIM uses to connect to another service: Nomasveikals, OpenCart, CS-Cart, DeepL, Tilde, Claude, OpenAI, etc. Creating a key 1. Click Add key. 2. Choose the Service. 3. Enter the key (at least 8 characters). For a PIM API key use a long random string โ for example 40 characters from a password manager. 4. For a PIM API key choose the permissions: - Read catalogue; - Write products and assortment; - Write supplier offers. 5. Save. Store the key somewhere safe straight away. PIM keeps it encrypted, and after saving only the last 4 characters are shown โ nobody can see the full key again. A request with a key that lacks the needed permission gets a 403 error (key_scope). Managing keys - Deactivate โ pause it without deleting; - Activate โ turn it back on; - Delete โ permanently. Keys marked Managed by the operator were set up by EcomCart โ you can't change them. If a key has fallen into the wrong hands, delete it immediately and create a new one. How to use the key: API for developers.
Webhooks
A webhook is an address in your system that PIM sends a message to when something happens โ a product changed or an import finished, for example. Open Settings โ Webhooks. Administrators and Owners can add and change them. Creating a webhook 1. Click Add webhook. 2. Enter the Address (must be https://). 3. Tick the Events your system really needs. 4. Click Create webhook. 5. The webhook page opens with the Signing key. Copy it straight away (button next to it) โ it won't be shown again. A disabled webhook (Active unticked) stays saved, but no messages are sent. Events Products: product created, changed, archived, published to a store, added to the assortment, products merged / merge undone, product unlinked, variant linked to / unlinked from its parent. Images and files: image or file uploaded, images or files changed. Texts and properties: translation completed, enrichment completed, properties merged / merge undone. Suppliers: import completed, offer no longer available, supplier attached / detached. Verifying the signature Every request carries the header: X-Ecompim-Signature: t=<unix time>,v1=<signature> v1 = HMAC-SHA256(signing key, t + "." + request body), in hex. Verify the signature and reject old requests (for example when t is older than 5 minutes). PIM generates the signing key automatically and shows it only once; later only its last 4 characters are visible. If the key is lost or compromised, click Change key and confirm โ the old key stops working immediately and the new one is shown once. Remember to put it into your system. If your system doesn't respond PIM tries 4 times: immediately, after 1 minute, after 5 minutes and after 30 minutes. After that the event isn't sent again. To make sure you don't miss anything, also use the /api/v1/events API endpoint โ it holds every event and can be read at any time.
Content languages and the main language
Content languages are the languages your product texts exist in, and in which PIM checks readiness and publishes products. They aren't the same as the interface language (buttons and menus) โ see Interface language. Open Settings โ Languages. Administrators and Owners can change them. Enabled languages Available languages: Latvian, Russian, English, Lithuanian, Estonian, German, Polish. Tick the ones you need. The N of M counter shows how many languages your plan allows. If you need more, contact support. Main language The main language is the language in which: - editors write the original texts; - products open by default; - the other languages are translated from. Usually it's Latvian. When you turn on a new language, products have no texts in it at first. Translate them with a translation list or turn on automatic translation.
